Many of our service calls this week has been attributed to dirty filters and/or dirty evaporator coils. It is important that you change your one inch filters monthly or five inch media filters twice a year at a minimum. Dirty coils/filter restrict air flow causing ice to develop on the evaporator coil which can cause you major problems as pictured to the left. Extended air conditioning operation while it is froze could possibly damage your compressor. We offer yearly and twice yearly maintenance and coil cleanings to help ensure your comfort.
Air Flow is very crucial in our field of heating and cooling, hence the reason why we chose the name for the company as Eastern Air Flow LLC.

Used Air Conditioning Equipment: Buyer Beware
After seeing so many used pieces of air conditioning equipment for sale on several different internet websites we felt it was important to write a short blog post about purchasing used air conditioning equipment. The facts you need to know: Kentucky requires licensed professionals in the heating and cooling field to buy, service, and install heating and cooling equipment. Master contractors must have insurance and maintain their licenses yearly for this privilege. There is almost always a reason someone is selling their old air conditioner. Most people do not upgrade their system’s until there is a problem with their current air conditioner. The cost of having a licensed contractor install and repair a used piece of equipment is often comparable to the cost of a brand new system.
Contact us today for an estimate for your new air conditioning system and you may be surprised at how affordable your comfort can be. Thanks for reading.

R-22 commonly referred to as “Freon” is the type of refrigerant in the heating and cooling industry that is currently being phased out under the Montreal Protocol. R-22 is due to be phased out of production completely within the next few years. New units charged with R-22 are no longer in production.
We feel it is important to write this blog post to bring up another issue that the heating and cooling industry is facing and should be of great concern to homeowners. Some contractors have been using an unapproved drop in refrigerant known as some of the following brands/terms: R-290, 22a, 22-A, R-22a, HC-22a, and CARE 40. These refrigerant types are propane based, and can cause fires and explosions especially when an unsuspecting technician is servicing your system. It is very important to understand that the manufacturers of air conditioning equipment as well as the federal government do not endorse or approve the use of these propane based refrigerants in your homes air conditioning system.
The next time you are having refrigerant put in your R-22 system take the time to make sure it is new virgin (unused) R-22 (in green tank) and not some unapproved drop in replacement. Remember if the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
