Happy November! Fall time is here but it’s feeling more like winter every day. With the decreasing temperatures some older units may have a hard time keeping your home comfort. Luckily, there’s a good way to make sure your heating system is prepared for this early winter: WINTERIZATION!
Here’s a few tips on winterization:
- Turn off all the exterior power to the central air unit by locating the circuit outside, hitting the switch, then closing the lid. This prevents damage from happening and will keep the A/C from being turned on.
- Once you’ve made sure it’s turned off, you can start cleaning the system. First, start by raking any leaves, branches, and debris that may be around or on top of the unit. Then take a nearby hose and spray your unit off being sure to get what dirt debris off that you couldn’t before. After spraying it off with some water, let it dry for a couple of hours (be sure it is completely dry) then you can cover the unit with either a tarp or waterproof air conditioner unit cover, securing it with either bungee cords or ties, to protect the unit’s compressor.
- A simple, final step in winterizing your home is to make sure all central air conditioning ducts and vents are sealed off. You can easily do this by using specialty tape that is approved for the sole purpose of sealing off said ducts and vents
If you are wanting to winterize your HVAC unit before the weather gets any colder, but you just aren’t able to do so then worry not. You can call us toll-free at (844) 334-5480 or walk in at any of our office locations, located in Prestonsburg, Lexington, or Ashland!
By taking a few extra steps you could save hundreds on repairs and keep your family comfortable this season.
The kids are back in school and summer is ending. With the increased in temperatures over the past few months most HVAC units have struggled to maintain a cool home. This is a common problem with a potential common solution: your system may need a new filter.
The purpose of an air filter is to reduce as much dust and allergens from entering the home as possible. During the summer months more dust and dirt are in the air, especially when there hasn’t been very much rain. With the increase in dust the filters become dirty much quicker. When the air filters are clogged with debris the unit has a much harder time pushing the cold air through, which causes the unit to freeze up or stop working. A quick solution is the replace the old, dirty filter with a new, clean one. Although this isn’t always the case, in many circumstances the unit will begin to run as efficiently as before! A great way to ensure that your air filter is ready for the summer is to replace it every 6 months.
At Eastern Air Flow we understand how busy life can get and minimal things like changing your air filter can slip your mind, that’s why we offer our Comfort Club membership! For only $16 a month or $150 a year, our certified technicians will come to your home and make sure your HVAC unit is running properly for the upcoming season. The tech will come out every 6 months to clean the unit, change the air filter, and determine if there are any potential problems within the unit. If any issues are found you will receive 15% off any parts that aren’t covered by your existing warranty.
The best part is, your unit doesn’t have to have been installed by us to become a member! Not only do you get the peace of mind that your HVAC system is ready for the extreme weather, but also that being a Comfort Club member helps keep your current warranty valid.
Enjoy the comfort and join our club!

At Eastern Air Flow LLC we believe staying warm in the winter time is a basic human right. Our number one goal has always been to give back to the community that supports us in anyway that we are able. So far we have done this with donations to our favorite charitable organization, food drives, sales, and now a FREE mobile home electric furnace give away to someone whom is truly in need before Christmas.
What we are asking of you is to nominate someone you know that is in need of a new electric furnace for their mobile home. We have a link that we will be sharing which will bring you to this blog post where you can enter information about the person in need and preferably a picture of the old furnace (so we can know that our new one will match up correctly).
We will then confirm the validity of the entries and do a drawing from the people who really need a new electric furnace to receive a free installation just before Christmas.
As we continue to grow, we will continue to give back to the community more and more as we can. We ask that since we are doing this give away that you please like, share, and promote our Facebook page if you will since this is how we will get the word out about our giveaway and other offers. It is our hope that we will inspire other businesses and people within our community to give more this holiday season to help those in need. Who know’s, if we can get enough people interested and involved we may be able to get our suppliers to help us install an entire heat pump or more than one electric furnace. To our knowledge this is the first time anything like this has been done in Eastern Kentucky and we are more than happy to provide this opportunity to the residents of our community.
Disclaimer: Please know that we will vet all entries for validity, multiple phone calls to our office will not increase your chances of being drawn and may disqualify your entry. We really need a photo of the old furnace to be uploaded into the form. Multiple entries will not increase your chances of being drawn. We define in need as someone who is living in a mobile home without a safe, reliable primary heat source.
(kerosene, electric floor heaters, and other related forms of heat are not a safe reliable primary heat source.)
We really want to help someone who is truly in need with this give away so please only nominate someone who would be happy to have a new electric furnace installed at no cost to them.
Please share and help get the word out! Merry Christmas!
It is hard to believe that fall is already here and winter is right around the corner. We urge everyone to have their heating system checked and maintained to help prevent breakdowns when the bad weather arrives. The fact is many heating system failures can be preventable with regular maintenance.
We make it easy for you to keep track of your important systems in your home such as your central heating and cooling system with our Comfort Club. If you become a member you will receive two visits per year where both your heating and air conditioning system will be checked out by our licensed professionals. We will make recommendations if needed to replace aging parts that are growing weak.
Another advantage for regular inspections for a gas heating system is we can check the combustion chamber or heat exchanger to ensure it is in good condition without cracks. A cracked heat exchanger may allow deadly carbon monoxide into your home.
